CIE Preschool Opens In Makati!

CIE is a British school from Cebu that has branched out to the Makati area. Their Makati preschool will start this coming school year. The preschool is located at 107 Palanca Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City, which is quite near the business district and Ayala Center malls, and walking distance from most condominiums in the area, including BSA, Shang Grand Tower, Prince Plaza, Greenbelt Madison, Residences, Rada Regency etc.

Because it is an international school, its school year starts in August and ends in June. You can opt to drop by on May 16 (I'll be doing this as well!), which marks the start of their summer classes, in order to see the facilities, teachers, and class schedule/structure first hand.

The tuition fee is actually not that high, given that it's an international school in a prime location and they do offer flexible payment schemes. They charge for their M-F classes the same rate that other preschools give for their 2 to 3x a week classes.

I'll have more to blog after my May 16 visit, but you can opt to call the school at 8880909 for any inquiries.

  2. Hi, the visit went really well - the staff and teachers are friendly, the facilities are nice, spacious, and clean, and my daughter took to the place immediately. They also offer discounted rates for Filipinos. I did not push through with the trial class because my daughter, who was really timid at the start of the school year, still would not allow me to leave her alone in the school grounds. Since they are a bit strict in this matter and the waiting area is outside the premises, I decided to put her in a smaller school first. I do have a neighbor who enrolled her 3-year-old son and he loves it. You could see his excitement and self confidence in going to school everyday.

  3. i also visited the school last tuesday, unfortunately, didnt see the room kasi nga daw classes are going on. they told me to bring my child pa this saturday for an assessment and then, i can see the room. atleast you gave me an initial idea of what to expect, thanks for your reply..;) the only drawback, for me, is that they only have 2 enrollees for toodlers as of now, since they only opened this year. my daughter came form a preschool with six classmates, she's 2.2yo now..what do you think of that? i need to transfer her coz the former school is quite far form our place.

  4. I know what you mean - I backed out of one school because they only had 3 enrollees and they were all boys! Since I want my daughter to get used to other kids, I wanted her to be in a class with at least 6 students. For 2.2 years old, I'd recommend Gymboree (play based learning with focus on building confidence and motor skills) and Brainy Beginners (a small preschool in Prince Plaza II where the owner is hands-on with the lessons). If you prefer the Montessori method, I know a couple of other kids who are doing well in Mother Goose Playskool in Salcedo village. For a progressive school that prepares kids for the big schools, you can try Schola Progressio (right next to CIE).

  5. I thought it was just me:)...thats one of the reasons nga why i want to enroll my daughter, to have playmates and develop her social skills. sayang, CIE have several parking slots pa naman, which most preschools do not have. well, its an advantage sana on my part..:) i will go and check out gymboree and brainy. THANKS for suggesting. I visited schola already and from the reviews, looks promising..but i do find their classrooms small, dim and parang masikip...and the building itself is kinda old (my opinion..:) Have you heard about MSA whizkids in delarosa cor esteban in LV? any insights?

  6. I always see MSA, but haven't had the chance to drop by. It's the same with Schola Progressio - it looked to me like a stepping stone to a big school so I hadn't considered it yet when I was school hunting last summer. My daughter was only two at the time so I was looking for a play-based school. If you do drop by, please do let me know what you think :) I'm looking for back up plans just in case my daughter doesn't pass the entrance exams to the big schools yet.

  7. Hi, visited MSA yesterday. the school is near(at the back) of makati med. The pre-school is divided into two and is spacious and bright with colorful designs, cushioned floor. It accepts kids from 2-6.5 yo and tuition fee is P9,500 per month (5x/wk for 3hours) which includes books/hand outs and bags. My daugther, who is also usually shy at first, after a few minutes of stay, run and played with the students (around 4 for toodlers and 6-7 for the other age group during their circle). The two teachers are kind and helpful. I was able to leave my daughter for her for a trial class...agad! :)
I observed my daughter as she played, sing, dance and do some worksheet (coloring and tracing). I think she likes it there. But since 2nd sem is still few days away, will still check those on my list:)
You may like to check their fb acct, msa makati. Will go and check brainy beginners today chibimommy! thanks.
